Job Description & Qualifications
Designs and drafts vertical and horizontal concrete formwork solutions for business customers in heavy and highway, commercial, industrial, and residential markets. Enters and maintains fabrication orders and manages the flow of materials to job sites.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
Drafts and designs simple to moderately complex placing plans for structural components, including vertical and horizontal concrete formwork solutions. Incorporates structural changes in a clear and concise manner for customers, engineers, and/or architects. Provides technical assistance to sales specialists.
Performs and records various mathematical calculations and equations using charts, graphs, handheld calculators, and conventional and computer-aided design software programs.
Reviews contract drawings and calculates square footage of detailed formwork. Interprets and analyzes contract drawings to design and detail projects.
Creates comprehensive material take-off and bill of materials lists for projects. Makes changes to drawings and material take-offs as needed. Enters order into production systems.
Maintains project files and coordinates project activities to ensure on-time delivery to customer locations.
Communicates with customers regarding project details, including detailing, fabrication, and delivery issues. Visits construction sites to analyze project specific challenges and verifies formwork is erected according to plan.
Checks and reviews peer drawings and material take-offs based on contract drawings and project information. Partners with internal and external partners to ensure project accuracy and understanding.
Nature and Scope
Refers complex, unusual problems to supervisor.
Under general supervision, exercises some judgment in accordance with well-defined policies, procedures, and techniques. Work typically involves regular review of output by a senior coworker or supervisor.
Typically located in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors that may cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness, such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noises, and fumes.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10-key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred. Specialized skills training/certification may be required. Generally 2-5 years of experience in area of responsibility.
Preferred Qualifications & Job Specific Details
1 to 3 years of experience designing formwork and shoring systems.
Architectural design experience with elevated structures in the construction industry.
Experience reading and understanding contract drawings.
Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or higher.
Strong mathematical skills and/or prior experience calculating loads.
